On Monday, December 2nd, Days of Our Lives celebrates an incredible milestone with its 15,000th episode, marking 59 years of drama, love, and heartbreak in Salem. But amid the celebration comes a heartbreaking farewell to a beloved character and actor.
In the Thanksgiving episode, Jack finds himself unable to wake Doug, leaving Julie devastated as she receives the tragic news. The moment is a poignant and emotional tribute to the legacy of Bill Hayes, who brought Doug Williams to life for decades.
Speaking exclusively to People, Susan Seaforth Hayes shared her thoughts on being part of the milestone episode:"This show has been 54 years of my life. Because of Days, I’ve had a career, a happy marriage, and great experiences with co-workers and fans from all around the world. It’s gratifying to be included in the 15,000th episode."
The episode will also feature a host of familiar faces returning to Salem, including Stephen Schnetzer as Steve Olson, Maree Cheetham as Marie Horton, Gloria Loring as Liz Chandler, Victoria Konefal as Ciara Weston, Brandon Beemer as Shawn Brady, and many more special guests to honor this incredible milestone.
Susan also opened up about filming the emotional farewell, revealing how the experience became a part of her healing process:"My husband Bill was so universally admired, I never grieved alone. The cast, crew, and producers sustained me. For the farewell episode, my eyes will be glued to the screen expecting a perfect tribute to Bill and to all the cast we’ve been privileged to love for 59 years."
