Cherie Jimenez Speaks Out Against Bullying Amid Days of Our Lives Recast Backlash

Since stepping into the role of Gabi Hernandez DiMera on Days of Our Lives in June 2024, Cherie Jimenez has faced a wave of backlash from fans of Camila Banus, who portrayed the beloved character for 13 years before departing in 2023. In a recent Woman's Word interview, Jimenez shared the emotional impact of her experience, saying, “I’m not going to sugarcoat it. I cried a bunch in the beginning. The fanbase was basically bullying me. People miss Camila, and even though I tried to bring elements of her to the role, I’m not Camila. I was getting ripped apart in so many different ways—and people were reaching out to do it. It really hurt.”

She also added, "“Bullying is not okay, in any form,” she insists. “And I choose to change the narrative and what I acknowledge. My life is very full. I’m blessed. I’m so thankful.”
