Melissa Ordway, who brings Abby Newman Winters to life on The Young and the Restless, recently shared news with fans that she’s now off contract with the show. During an Instagram Q&A while on a flight from LAX to BNA, she opened up about the recent changes, explaining her decision to try a fresh, shorter hairstyle. “Honestly, it's been an interesting couple of months,” she admitted, “The show decided to take me off contract, so I decided to change my look up a bit for auditions. Definitely not something I wanted, but I love and respect my Y&R family and appreciate anytime they ask me back.”
When another fan asked, "What does off contract mean? I don’t want you to leave the show," Ordway reassured her followers: "I'm still playing Abby! I’m just not guaranteed episodes and can work on other projects. I’m still part of the Y&R family and pray they continue to let Abby be part of all things in Genoa City. Trust me, I hope I'm still there all the time!" She added that, for now, the show is focusing on other characters and storylines, but there's still “lots of fun stuff coming up” for Abby.
