(A Day Ahead) Monday, August 10: Nick’s Loved Ones Force Him to Face His Demons

On Monday, Nick Newman’s family and friends push him to confront his issues, but it’s not going to unfold the way you might think.

Nick crashes at a motel, completely wiped out, and drifts off into a nightmare where his loved ones embody his worst fears.

First up is Matt Clark (Roger Howarth), who mocks Nick about his drug habit and seems to nudge him toward a destructive path. Then, Nick finds himself back at The Shadow Room, horrified to see Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) using drugs.

Things get even more intense when Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes) shows up. Nick’s late daughter is furious about Sharon’s state and blames Nick for it. She also gives Matt a well-deserved slap.

But Nick’s nightmare is just getting started. Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) confronts him, and then Nick faces Adam and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) with terrible news about Connor Newman (Judah Mackey). In this nightmare, Connor has overdosed after getting into Nick’s fentanyl stash.

Adam and Chelsea hold Nick responsible for Connor’s death and threaten to take Christian Newman away, thinking Nick can’t keep his son safe anymore.

Then Nick has to watch another loved one fall apart. Victor tears into him for following Nikki’s path with addiction, while Nikki blames Nick for her marriage falling apart. She orders a double vodka, leaving Nick horrified as he watches her seemingly throw away her sobriety.

Of course, none of this is real. Matt, Cassie, Connor’s overdose, and Nikki’s relapse are all parts of Nick’s nightmare, reflecting the impact he fears his drug use might have on those he cares about.

Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) eventually shows up and helps Nick realize he doesn’t want this nightmare to become reality. Nick decides to change his ways before waking up in his motel room.

But his first challenge might be right outside the door. His shouting during the nightmare has caught the attention of his neighbor, Marie Wilson (Jade Harlow). Marie checks in on him, and Nick explains he was just having a bad dream. Marie then stirs things up by asking if Nick has any “stuff” to share.

That’s definitely not who Nick needs at his door right after dreaming about the cost of his drug use. As Nick gets closer to Marie on Tuesday and hits rock bottom on Wednesday,

Monday’s nightmare might be less about what he’s already lost and more about warning him of what could happen if he doesn’t finally face his demons.

Will Nick listen to the warning his subconscious is sending him, or will Marie help pull him even deeper into trouble?
