TV Insider has exclusively revealed that Mills will return to General Hospital as the unpredictable Heather, with her first episode back scheduled to air Thursday, November 5, 2026. Mills has been absent from the ABC soap for nearly two years, having last appeared on October 28, 2024.
And considering Heather's history, it's probably safe to assume she isn't returning simply to catch up over coffee.

Where Has Heather Webber Been?
When viewers last saw Heather, her life had taken an unexpected turn. Exposed as "The Hook" killer, she seemed destined for prison until doctors discovered her cobalt poisoning from a faulty hip replacement.
This raised questions about whether the poisoning influenced her violent behavior. After the replacement was removed, Heather's behavior improved, leading to her conviction being overturned and her release from Pentonville.
Her son, Steven Webber, returned to Port Charles and agreed to take her away. They left to start anew in Sedona, Arizona. That was October 2024. Now Heather is coming back.
What Brings Heather Back to Port Charles?

Executive producer Frank Valentini assures Heather won't be boring, expressing excitement about Mills' return and hinting at more trouble in Port Charles. Alley Mills Made Heather Her Own
Taking over a character like Heather Webber was a challenging task. Heather debuted in 1976 with Georganne LaPiere, followed by Mary O'Brien (1977-1979) and Robin Mattson in 1980, who became the most associated with the role until 2016. Then came Alley Mills, who debuted as Heather in October 2022, infusing the character with her own energy, humor, and menace. The recast was successful, as Mills won the 2023 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series and repeated the win in 2025. Two Emmy wins in three years demonstrated that Mills had not just inherited Heather Webber but had created her own version.
