Are Lulu and Dante Jealous of Britt and Rocco's Bond? Here's Why Rocco May Never Forgive Them

Are Lulu and Dante Jealous of Britt and Rocco's Bond? Here's Why Rocco May Never Forgive Them

It's becoming harder to ignore the tension surrounding Rocco's relationship with Britt. While Lulu and Dante certainly have every reason to be concerned about their son's safety after Britt took him without permission, there also seems to be frustration over the genuine bond Rocco has formed with the woman who carried him as his surrogate.

Rocco clearly loves Britt, and Britt has shown that she loves him too. That connection didn't appear overnight. It's something that developed over time, and Rocco has repeatedly made it clear that Britt is important to him.

The biggest problem is that neither Lulu nor Dante seems willing to hear what Rocco is trying to tell them.

Rocco didn't run to Britt because he stopped loving his parents. He ran to someone he trusted during one of the most terrifying moments of his life. Whether people agree with Britt's actions or not, Rocco believed she understood him.

Lulu, in particular, has struggled to put Rocco first since Charlotte Cassadine (Bluesy Burke) reentered her life. Much of her focus has centered on rescuing Charlotte from Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), leaving Rocco feeling like he's constantly taking a back seat. Time after time, Rocco's feelings seem to be overlooked as Lulu decides what's best without truly listening to him.

Dante hasn't exactly been much better. Although he's often calmer than Lulu, he also tends to make decisions for Rocco instead of with him. Both parents love their son, but love alone doesn't replace communication.

Ironically, having Britt arrested may have saved her life.

GH: Britt was arrested for kidnapping in Tortola, British Virgin Islands

Britt was moments away from injecting herself with the poison Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) had forced upon her. Instead, the police burst in and arrested her on kidnapping charges. Behind bars, she'll at least be protected from Cullum's immediate reach and, most importantly, she never took the injection that likely would have killed her.

That silver lining doesn't erase the damage done to Rocco's trust, however.

If Rocco learns that Lulu and Dante were responsible for Britt's arrest, it could permanently change how he sees them. Teenagers don't forget moments when they believe their trust has been betrayed, especially after pleading for someone they care about.

Could Rocco eventually seek emancipation and choose to live with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) instead? It's certainly the kind of dramatic twist soap operas thrive on. Whether that actually happens remains to be seen, but it wouldn't be surprising if Rocco's relationship with his parents becomes strained for quite some time.

At the end of the day, there's one important truth that shouldn't be forgotten. Rocco absolutely loves Britt. Their bond is real, and no one can take that away from him. But Britt isn't his mother. Lulu is.

The challenge for Lulu and Dante isn't competing with Britt—it's rebuilding the trust and communication that will remind Rocco why they'll always be his parents.
