BB: Ridge's Hypocrisy Exposed After Criticizing Will Spencer's Violence
Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester) and Don Diamont (Bill Spencer)

If a Spencer loses their temper, they're reckless, dangerous, and out of control. But when a Forrester does the exact same thing? Somehow it's understandable.

BB: Ridge's Hypocrisy Exposed After Criticizing Will Spencer's Violence

That's the double standard currently playing out on the CBS soap.

It all started with Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Katie Logan (Heather Tom). During an explosive confrontation, Brooke accused her younger sister of stealing everything that mattered to her—her surname, Eric, and even pieces of her life. Katie refused to back down, reminding Brooke of her long history of betrayals, including sleeping with her daughter's husband and pointing out that Hope was born from an affair.

Brooke's answer wasn't another argument. It was a slap across Katie's face.

Then came Will Spencer (Crew Morrow) and R.J. Forrester (Brayan Nicoletti).

The first altercation happened at Bikini Bar in late May, when Will sucker-punched R.J. in the stomach after R.J. warned him to stay away from Electra Forrester (Laneya Grace). Weeks later, the rivalry escalated again. At the beach house, R.J. ordered Will to keep his hands off Electra. Instead of walking away, Will punched him a second time, knocking him to the floor. Witnessing the fight was the final straw for Electra, who walked away from Will and helped an injured R.J. home.

No one can argue that Will handled either situation well.

But neither did Ridge Forrester. When Ridge confronted Bill at Spencer/Logan, he immediately climbed onto his moral high horse. He blasted Bill over Will's behavior, declared that Will was completely out of control, and even suggested that R.J. should press charges. On the surface, Ridge had a point. Parents should hold their children accountable. The problem is that Ridge couldn't even follow his own advice.

The confrontation quickly turned personal, with Ridge rehashing old grudges involving Brooke, Hope, Eric, and the endless Forrester-Spencer rivalry. Bill wasn't about to sit quietly. He mocked R.J. as nothing more than a "mini-Ridge" and reminded Ridge that Spencer children are taught to survive by "swimming with the sharks." That was all it took. Ridge responded by punching Bill square in the face. In an instant, every lecture Ridge had delivered about Will's violent behavior rang hollow. How can Ridge condemn Will for settling disputes with his fists while doing the exact same thing himself? He can't.

Whether it's Brooke slapping Katie, Will punching R.J. twice, or Ridge decking Bill, the principle remains the same: two wrongs don't make a right.

Violence doesn't suddenly become acceptable because a Forrester throws the punch.

That's what makes Ridge's outrage so difficult to take seriously. He expects Bill to control Will while failing to control himself. He criticizes the Spencer family for acting impulsively, then immediately proves he's no different.

Was Bill trying to provoke Ridge? Probably. Bill knows exactly which buttons to push, and calling R.J. a "mini-Ridge" was almost guaranteed to spark a reaction. But Ridge still made the choice to swing. And the moment he did, he surrendered the moral high ground.

If Will Spencer deserves criticism for punching R.J., then Ridge deserves that same criticism for punching Bill. The family name shouldn't determine who's condemned and who's excused. Because in the end, a punch is still a punch. And hypocrisy is still hypocrisy.
