Time is quickly running out for Eva on Beyond the Gates, which is delivering one of its most emotional storylines yet.

With Eva desperately in need of a life-saving transplant, her loved ones are scrambling to find a compatible donor before it's too late. Unfortunately, every potential match has come up empty. Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon), Brad "Smitty" Smith (Mike Manning), Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson), and Leslie have all been ruled out, leaving one person everyone has turned their attention to—Kat Richardson.

For Kat, the request isn't as simple as taking a test. She still carries deep resentment toward Eva for helping Leslie keep the shocking truth hidden after Leslie attempted to kill Laura Peterson (Destiny Love)—not once, but twice. Kat also hasn't forgotten that Eva slept with Tomas, adding another painful layer to an already fractured relationship. Despite everything that's happened, Ted hopes his daughter can look beyond the past.

During an emotional conversation in a hospital stairwell, Ted wraps Kat in his arms as she admits she's overwhelmed by everyone expecting her to get tested. Feeling cornered, Kat confesses that she's tired of being viewed as nothing more than someone whose body can be used for spare parts.

Ted quickly reassures her that nothing could be further from the truth.

In one of the episode's most heartfelt moments, he tells Kat that she is "the heart I carry outside my body" and reminds her that she was the miracle he and Nicole never thought they'd have after believing they couldn't have another child. But Ted's emotional plea only makes Kat's decision more painful.

She asks her father if he'll still forgive her if she chooses not to be tested. Although Ted initially tries to respect her feelings, his desperation ultimately takes over as he begs her to do it—not for Eva, but for him. The pressure becomes too much. Fighting back tears, Kat finally blurts out the words she's been afraid to say aloud: "I don't want to be a match!"

Unable to cope with the guilt and expectations weighing on her shoulders, Kat runs away in tears, leaving Ted devastated.

As Eva's condition continues to deteriorate, Kat faces an impossible decision. Will she put aside her anger and agree to be tested, or will she stand by her choice, even if it could cost Eva her life?

With emotions running high and time running out, Beyond the Gates is setting the stage for a heartbreaking showdown that could change this family forever.
