For months, The Young and the Restless fans have watched Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) struggle under the weight of a painful secret, one that Mariah has refused to share with her wife. Now, according to Fairbanks in an exclusive interview with Soap Opera Digest, Tessa is finally reaching the point where she can no longer accept silence.

The Breaking Point
After Mariah confessed she’d tried to kill a man, she abruptly left for a clinic in Boston, leaving Tessa alone to care for their daughter, Aria. For Tessa, the lack of honesty has become unbearable. “She’s been alone. She’s been taking care of their child on her own. She’s had no answers,” Fairbanks explained. “I think it’s just reaching a boiling point for her that if she doesn’t get answers, she has to think about the next steps.”
Out of Character
What unsettles Tessa most is how different Mariah seems. The couple built their relationship on openness, and now Mariah has shut her out completely. “They’ve always had a really open and honest relationship. They’ve been a team since the beginning. … So it feels extremely out of character,” Fairbanks said.
Fighting for Family
Despite the turmoil, Tessa remains determined to hold onto her marriage. Having a daughter with Mariah changes everything. “It makes it more serious to stick it out, but also more serious to make sure that their child can have a happy life with the love and support she needs,” Fairbanks noted.
Even if Mariah is guilty of attempted murder, or worse, Fairbanks believes Tessa would stay. “I think Tessa is more just about honesty. We can go through anything together, but she doesn’t want to be shut out. That’s more of a deal-breaker than anything.”
Teriah’s Future
For loyal “Teriah” fans, Fairbanks offered hope: “She’s never had a relationship in her life the way she’s had with Mariah … So I think that is also what’s so pivotal about this relationship for her: its stability, its comfort, its love.”
Even with heartbreak and distance, Tessa isn’t giving up on the family she’s built with Mariah. The question is: Will Mariah let her back in?
