In late 2025, Hennesy sustained a severe broken leg after an accident at home involving her dog, Bela Lugosi. The actress later explained the mishap in a November 2025 Facebook post, revealing that her dog had the “zoomies,” and in an attempt to avoid stepping on him, she launched herself into the air and landed badly. The fall ultimately required two surgeries and an extended period of rehabilitation.

Speaking with Soap Opera Digest, Hennesy shared an update on her recovery, calling it “slow, but very, very steady.” She reflected on how far she’s come, noting that just two months ago she couldn’t move without a walker and leg brace. Now, she’s taken her first steps without either. “I feel like I’m ready to jet ski, or square dance, or climb back on my trapeze,” she joked, before adding with a laugh, “but rationally, I know that’s gonna take a while!”

When asked how she knew she was ready to return to work, Hennesy delivered her signature wit, winking as she replied, “I woke up from surgery.” The answer felt perfectly on brand for both the actress and her alter ego. During her time away from the canvas, Hennesy admitted she missed playing Diane Miller immensely. “Of course!” she said. “Then again, I live with her. But let’s face it — in my mind, the world missed Diane!”
