The daytime community is mourning the sudden loss of beloved actor and producer Patrick Muldoon, who has died at the age of 57.

According to Deadline, Muldoon passed away on Sunday morning, April 19, following a heart attack.
Muldoon was best known to soap fans for originating the role of Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives, a character he portrayed from 1992 to 1995 before returning to Salem from 2011 to 2012. His portrayal of Austin made him a fan favorite and cemented his place in daytime television history.
Before his breakout success, Muldoon began his acting career while still in college, appearing in a two-episode arc on the sitcom Who's the Boss?. Shortly after graduating in 1991, he landed a recurring role on Saved by the Bell, further building his early television résumé.
In primetime, Muldoon gained additional recognition for his role as the villainous Richard Hart on Melrose Place, where he appeared from Seasons 3 through 5. He also made a lasting impression on the big screen as space pilot Zander Barcalow in the 1997 sci-fi film Starship Troopers.
Throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, Muldoon remained a steady presence on television, starring in numerous TV movies and continuing to expand his career behind the scenes. He became involved in film production, working on projects such as Badge of Honor alongside Martin Sheen and The Comeback Trail, which featured Robert De Niro, Tommy Lee Jones, and Morgan Freeman.
Outside of acting, Muldoon was also passionate about music. He played guitar and served as the lead singer for the band The Sleeping Masses, showcasing another layer of his creative talent.
Muldoon, affectionately known as “Bobo” to his loved ones, is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart; his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr.; his sister and brother-in-law, Shana and Ahmet Zappa; and their children, his beloved niece Halo and nephew Arrow Zappa.
