Johnny reveals a shocking truth to Chanel: he’s uncertain about proceeding with the adoption. His hesitation is due to EJ’s actions, which leave him doubting his capability to be the father the baby deserves. Chanel implores him, expressing that she already feels like the baby’s mother, and urges him not to let EJ ruin their future as well. However, Johnny’s fear of becoming like his father is profound. When Tate and Sophia arrive with the scrapbook, Johnny delivers the news—they’re not adopting the baby. A heartbroken Sophia storms out.
Doug attempts to quietly leave Holly's room for a job interview, but Philip intercepts him and advises him to leave immediately. Meanwhile, Holly comes back with pizza and discovers a farewell note from Doug. In the note, he expresses gratitude for her kindness and explains that he can't continue involving her in his troubles. Later, while in the square, Doug receives a disturbing phone call: his debt remains unpaid, as the interest is still accumulating. Even more troubling, they know his recent whereabouts.
