Diane’s Nikki Jealousy Strikes Again: Can Jack Really Have It Both Ways?

Diane Jenkins may claim she’s trying to get over Jack Abbott’s friendship with Nikki Newman, but it’s obvious that relationship still hits a nerve.

Diane’s Nikki Jealousy Strikes Again: Can Jack Really Have It Both Ways?

Jack assures Diane that she is his best friend, yet he also admits Nikki was the one who told him about Nick’s struggles and even asked him to serve as Nick’s sponsor. Jack agreed, although Nick never followed through.

Naturally, Diane wants to know why her husband kept that from her.

Jack points out that Diane did something similar by withholding Billy’s new job because she didn’t want to upset him. Fair enough—but Nikki is clearly a much more sensitive subject.

Things get even more uncomfortable when Jack reveals Nikki and Victor have reconciled. Diane immediately calls Nikki foolish for taking Victor back and argues that Nikki hasn’t exactly proven herself to be a good friend.

Jack, however, wants no part of another Nikki-and-Victor debate. He tells Diane they should focus on their own marriage, and Diane agrees to drop it—for now.

That “for now” could be important.

Jack and Nikki have decades of history, and Diane knows it. Jack may insist nothing is threatening about their friendship, but every new secret conversation or emotional connection seems destined to reopen Diane’s insecurities.

Meanwhile, Nick’s situation is serious enough that Jack genuinely wants to help him pursue recovery. The question is whether Jack can support Nikki and Nick without creating another problem at home.

Is Diane justified in being uncomfortable with Jack and Nikki’s closeness, or does she need to trust her husband and let their friendship go finally?
