General Hospital Casts Kearran Giovanni As Anna’s New Therapist
Kearran Giovanni has joined the ABC soap as Dr. Nichols, Anna’s new therapist. The character arrives as Anna struggles to recover from her terrifying hallucinations of Peter August and the emotional breakdown that nearly ended in tragedy.
Giovanni is no stranger to daytime television. She made her mark as Dr. Vivian Wright on ABC’s One Life to Live, appearing on the soap from 2009 until its television finale in 2012.
The actress is perhaps best known for playing Detective Amy Sykes on TNT’s Major Crimes. Her television credits also include recurring roles as Senator Diane Hunter on Designated Survivor, Cutter on Black Lightning, and Andrea Braydon on The Resident.
Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, and raised in Katy, Texas, Giovanni attended Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts before training at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She later built an impressive Broadway résumé that included productions of Guys and Dolls, Sweet Charity, Tarzan, and Catch Me If You Can.
Giovanni is married to Philip Ambrosino, and the couple shares two children.
Dr. Nichols will have her work cut out for her as she helps Anna confront the trauma, guilt, and manipulation that contributed to her breakdown.
However, Giovanni’s commanding screen presence makes her an exciting addition to the General Hospital cast—and her daytime return is sure to delight longtime soap fans.
