General Hospital is adding yet another mysterious new face to Port Charles — and this one is coming all the way from Australia.

General Hospital Casts Wil Traval as Mysterious Newcomer Jude

Australian actor Wil Traval has joined the cast of General Hospital as a stranger named Jude, who is set to make his first appearance sometime in October.

Deadline first reported the casting news, but GH is keeping just about everything else under wraps. For now, Jude is simply being described as a stranger, with no details revealed about what brings him to Port Charles, who he knows, or which storyline he will ultimately become involved in.

And on General Hospital, introducing someone as a mysterious stranger is practically an invitation for fans to start investigating before the character even gets off the plane.

Who Is Wil Traval?

Traval should be a familiar face to viewers of both American and Australian television.

He was a series regular on Michael Petroni’s Netflix drama Messiah, appearing alongside Michelle Monaghan, John Ortiz and Jane Adams. Traval also had a major role on Netflix’s Jessica Jones, where he portrayed Will Simpson opposite Krysten Ritter.

His other series-regular work includes ABC’s Red Widow, alongside Radha Mitchell, Goran Visnjic and Clifton Collins Jr.

Traval also recurred on Dynasty as Father Caleb Collins and has appeared in several popular primetime dramas, including Arrow, Chicago P.D., Grimm and Once Upon a Time.

Before building an extensive résumé in American television, Traval was already well known to Australian audiences.

He portrayed Dr. Jack Quade on the long-running Australian medical drama All Saints and played Detective Peter Church on the police drama White Collar Blue.

Now, he's trading those worlds for Port Charles — a town where strangers rarely stay strangers for very long.

So, Who Exactly Is Jude?

That is the big question.

GH has revealed virtually nothing about Jude beyond his name and October arrival, which naturally leaves plenty of room for speculation.

And the timing is certainly interesting.

Port Charles currently has more than enough mysteries capable of swallowing up another mysterious character. The WSB has its hands in several situations, Josslyn Jacks has been pulled into the increasingly curious world surrounding Jasper Jacks Enterprises, and Hudson Parker hasn't exactly been handing out detailed explanations about everything he's doing.

Considering the Australian connections surrounding Jax and JJE, Traval's casting is bound to have viewers wondering whether Jude could somehow fit into that storyline.

But that's only speculation for now.

Jude could be connected to JJE. He could have WSB ties. He could know one of Port Charles' established residents. Or GH could be bringing Traval aboard to launch an entirely new storyline.

That's the fun part: we know he's coming, but we have absolutely no idea what trouble he's bringing with him.

And really, would Port Charles have it any other way?
