Great news for General Hospital fans who can’t imagine Port Charles without Carly Spencer: Laura Wright has confirmed that she has signed a new contract with the ABC soap.

Wright shared the news on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Saturday, August 8, after a fan expressed concern about her possibly leaving the show someday.
The fan told Wright that if she ever left General Hospital as Carly, they would stop watching, adding that they believed Wright was the best actress to take on the iconic role. Wright quickly put those fears to rest. “I’m not going anywhere ❤️❤️ just signed a new contract !!! ✨✨” the actress responded.
It definitely seems like Carly's fans can relax! Although the contract length isn't specified, you can be assured she's not going anywhere.
Laura Wright Is Staying in Port Charles
Wright has become synonymous with Carly after playing the character for more than two decades.
She made her General Hospital debut as Carly Corinthos in November 2005, becoming the fourth actress to play the role on a contract basis. Since then, Wright has taken Carly through marriages, divorces, betrayals, mob wars, family crises, business battles, and more than a few trips down the aisle.
Throughout it all, Carly has remained one of the central figures on the Port Charles canvas.
Now, with Wright confirming that she has signed a new contract, viewers know there is plenty more Carly drama ahead.
