Anchondo shared an emotional tribute reflecting on their years of adventures, companionship, laughter and love. He recalled how Mochi once had enough strength to pull him along on walks and carry him emotionally through heartbreak, loss and even the isolation of the pandemic.
As Mochi grew older, those walks began to change. Anchondo wrote about watching his longtime companion slow down until eventually it became his turn to carry Mochi.
The actor revealed that Mochi passed away in his arms on Thursday around 2 p.m., just minutes before a veterinarian was scheduled to arrive at his home to put him to sleep. Anchondo said Mochi looked into his eyes as he repeatedly told him how much he loved him and promised that he would be okay.
Anchondo described the experience as both “horrible and beautiful,” explaining that despite experiencing significant loss in his life, nothing had prepared him for saying goodbye to Mochi.
For 12 years, Mochi was far more than a pet. Anchondo called him his best friend and said he was the closest thing he may ever have to a son.
His tribute ended with a promise to the little companion who had been beside him for so much of his life: he would try his best to be okay.

Our condolences go out to Adrian Anchondo and everyone who loved Mochi. Losing a pet after so many years together leaves an enormous hole, and his tribute makes it clear just how special their bond was.
