Anna Devane’s trauma is getting worse, and General Hospital may be using her growing mental health crisis to bring her and Valentin Cassadine back together.

Anna joined Jason (Steve Burton), Carly (Laura Wright), and Valentin at the Metro Court pool as they discussed ELQ and Jax’s (Ingo Rademacher) attempt to convince Josslyn (Eden McCoy) to take over JJE. When Carly asked whether the WSB was any kind of life for Joss, her question unexpectedly triggered Anna.

Anna flashed back to being held captive beneath Wyndemere and completely panicked. She knocked over the drinks, apologized, and claimed she had a terrible headache. However, Valentin immediately realized something more serious was going on.

He told Jason he could handle it and rushed after Anna. Carly also noticed the connection between them and admitted that, whatever was happening, Anna clearly needed Valentin.

Valentin Comes to Anna’s Rescue

Valentin found Anna struggling to breathe in the Metro Court elevator and gently talked her through the panic attack. He then pushed her to be honest about what was happening.

Although Anna didn’t tell him everything, she admitted that she’d been convinced Faison (Anders Hove) was alive while she was being held captive. Anna confessed that part of her almost wished Faison had returned so she could finally face that fear and be done with it.

Anna has never truly felt safe since Faison entered her life. Even though he is dead, the terror he created still controls her.

Valentin suggested that Anna could be suffering from PTSD and encouraged her to step away from everything long enough to recover. Anna immediately resisted the idea because she was terrified that people would question her mental state.

She also feared the WSB was monitoring her and might have her committed again. Valentin promised that he would never allow anyone to do that to her.

Anna Is Still Hiding the Most Disturbing Part

Anna promised to find a therapist, but she kept one huge secret from Valentin: She is seeing Peter.

As Valentin helped her through the panic attack, Peter (Wes Ramsey) appeared and warned Anna not to reveal his presence. That suggests Anna’s condition may go far beyond an occasional stressful moment.

If these visions and panic attacks become more frequent, Anna may have a difficult time hiding what is happening. She could begin losing track of what is real, especially if “Peter” continues manipulating her and encouraging her to remain silent.

Anna might sincerely intend to seek professional help, but fear could make her break that promise. She is worried that admitting the truth will cost her freedom, career and credibility.

Is This Setting Up a “Vanna” Reunion?

Valentin may become the first person to realize just how serious Anna’s condition has become.

He understands her complicated history with Faison, and he knows when she is trying to cover her fear with excuses. Valentin also made it clear that he intends to protect Anna, even from the WSB.

That could lead to Valentin spending more time with her, checking on her and making sure she isn’t facing this crisis alone. The closer they become, the harder it may be for either of them to deny their lingering feelings.

Carly’s comment that Anna “needs Valentin” felt like more than a casual observation. It may have been a hint that GH is preparing to rebuild their relationship.

Of course, Valentin cannot cure Anna’s trauma, and she still needs professional treatment. However, he could become the person who finally convinces her that asking for help does not make her weak.

Anna and Valentin have been separated by lies, betrayals, and dangerous choices, but their love has never completely disappeared. If Valentin remains by Anna’s side through her darkest moments, this painful storyline could eventually lead to the “Vanna” reunion many viewers have been waiting for.

Will Anna’s panic attacks become more frequent? Will Valentin discover that she is seeing Peter—and could helping Anna heal bring these former lovers back together?
