Michael Damian Reflects: “There’s a Lot of History”

Michael Damian, who has played Danny since the early 1980s, says this wedding means more than fans even realize.

“There’s a lot of nostalgia connected to our characters and there’s a lot of history,” Damian shares.“Our fans have been on this journey with us. I think they’re feeling it, and it’s really great to see their involvement. Picking out the dress was one of the great things—to keep it interactive with our incredible fans.”

Fans were able to vote between three wedding dresses, adding a personal, modern twist to this iconic soap pairing.

Lauralee Bell: “We Were Super Excited—and Overwhelmed!”

Lauralee Bell reveals that the fan-voted dress concept created a special kind of pressure—in the best way.

“When I knew this was going to happen, I was super excited,” Bell says.“Mandy Line (Y&R costume designer) was super giddy. But at the same time, we were overwhelmed because there are so many choices out there. You factor in what you might like, what the fans might like, and then come up with three pretty different choices so people can really say, ‘This is the one I’m voting for.’”

Bell describes the process as joyful, interactive, and deeply meaningful.

Cricket’s Best Friends Were Essential: “She Still Showed Up”

In addition to the dress decision, Bell highlighted how important Cricket’s longtime friendships were during filming—both in story and in real life.

“It would have been a very difficult couple of shows to tape without Cricket’s best friends,” Bell explains.“Come what may, whatever is happening in life—and unfortunately Nina’s had some tragedy—she still showed up, and that meant everything.”
