After a dramatic and heartbreaking exit in 2023, General Hospital fan favorite Kelly Thiebaud is officially back as Dr. Britt Westbourne!

It’s Official: Kelly Thiebaud Reprises Her Role

In a new interview with TV Insider, Thiebaud opens up about her unexpected return and the emotional pull that brought her back to Port Charles. “I feel so lucky to have a character that I really enjoy playing,” says the Emmy-winning actress. “I definitely missed her.”

Britt’s original run began in 2012, and fans quickly came to love the complex, sarcastic, and secretly tender-hearted “Britch.” Her most recent departure was a gut-punch: Britt died in her mother Leisl's (Kathleen Gati) arms after being attacked by Heather Webber (Alley Mills) with a venomous hook. On top of that, Britt had been privately battling advanced stages of Huntington’s disease.

But on GH, death doesn’t always mean goodbye. On July 18th, 2025, viewers got the shock of their lives when Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) spotted Britt alive in a European airport, setting off speculation and excitement about what’s to come. “I think my character is so unique,” Thiebaud reflects. “The journey that she’s been on, and her arc on the show, from where she started to where she ended, was such a highlight to watch.”

Thiebaud also shared her personal growth through the years, saying, “Personally and professionally, the growth that I experienced in the nine years on and off that I’ve been on the show has just been really wonderful. I’ve gotten so comfortable with myself in front of a camera and performing in front of people.”

As for where things are headed, she’s especially hopeful for more screen time with Steve Burton. “As far as story goes, obviously, I want Britt and Jason to get back together,” she says with a smile. “I’m very much excited to pick up where we left off.”

For Thiebaud, this return isn’t just about fan service; it’s about digging deeper. “To continue to grow as an actor, take the lessons and the experiences I’ve been through, and be better and be more present in my work, be more present on set with people that work so hard to put the show together. That’s just really what I’m focused on.”
