Fresh out of the shower and completely unsuspecting, Gwen answered a knock at her hotel room door only to come face-to-face with Jack. Shock immediately washed over her expression, especially considering the painful history between them and the devastation Gwen caused the Deveraux family over the years.

Jack wasted little time getting to the point. He acknowledged that he knew Gwen’s marriage to Dimitri had officially ended, but his visit was about something much deeper than her divorce. Still grieving the loss of Abigail, Jack admitted that he missed his daughter terribly, yet confessed that Gwen had also become important to him. For someone who has spent most of her life feeling abandoned and unwanted, Jack’s reassurance clearly hit her harder than expected.

Jack gently assured Gwen that she is wanted and is loved — especially by him — before the two shared an emotional embrace. The moment was heartfelt, moving, and long overdue for many viewers who have wanted to see Jack fully accept Gwen as his daughter. But the biggest question now looming over Salem is this: Why is Jack keeping the relationship secret?

The secrecy immediately raises red flags because if Jack truly believes in rebuilding a bond with Gwen, why hide it from Jennifer? Is he trying to protect his marriage? Does he fear reopening old wounds surrounding Abigail and Laura? Or could Jack secretly worry that Jennifer may never forgive Gwen enough to accept her place in the family?
