Jason Loves Britt, But Can JaBritt Survive Without Trust?
Jason Morgan and Britt Westbourne may still love each other, but General Hospital just put their relationship up against something that can be much harder to repair than a broken heart: broken trust.
Jason didn’t dance around the issue when he talked to Anna Devane about his breakup with Britt. He loves Britt. That isn’t the problem.
The problem is that he doesn’t believe her.
And for a couple that has already fought through separation, danger, secrets and more than a few impossible circumstances, that might be the biggest obstacle JaBritt has ever faced.

Jason Can’t Get Past Britt’s Story
Britt maintains that she wanted to help Anna after learning she was being held against her will on Spoon Island. The problem is that Britt didn’t act quickly enough for Jason. Britt has admitted that she was in survival mode herself. That doesn’t necessarily erase the consequences of waiting, but it does add another layer to what happened. Jason, however, appears stuck on one fundamental question: Can he believe Britt when she tells him what her intentions really were? Right now, his answer appears to be no. That changes everything. Jason isn’t simply angry that Britt made a bad decision. He isn’t asking for a few days apart so he can cool down. He’s questioning whether the woman he loves is telling him the truth. How do you build a relationship when one person says, “Believe me,” and the other simply can’t?
Did Jason Judge Britt Too Harshly?
This is where things get complicated. Jason has every reason to be emotional about what happened to Anna. Knowing Britt had information that could have potentially helped Anna sooner naturally impacts how he views the situation. However, Britt wasn't exactly leading a normal life herself. She claims she was trying to survive and eventually intended to help Anna. She clearly seems devastated that Jason believes the worst interpretation of her actions.
This raises an uncomfortable question: Does Jason understand what Britt was going through, or has his anger made him unwilling to listen to her?
Britt has never been the easiest person to trust. Her history is complex, and she has made enough questionable choices over the years to make people hesitant about accepting her version of events.
But if Jason loves the woman Britt is today, how much should her past influence whether he believes her now?
Isaiah Gives Britt a Very Different Perspective
Isaiah provided Britt with something Jason currently cannot: the benefit of the doubt. After listening to her perspective, Isaiah believed Britt’s intentions were important. More significantly, he suggested that if Jason cannot trust Britt’s words, perhaps she is better off without him.
This might have been exactly what Britt needed to hear at that moment, but it also highlights the core issue of the JaBritt relationship.
Britt shouldn't have to spend an entire relationship proving the truth of her every word.
Meanwhile, Jason shouldn't have to disregard his instincts just because he loves her. Neither of these situations leads to a particularly happy romance.

Maybe This Breakup Isn’t Really About Anna
Anna may have triggered the breakup, but the deeper problem has probably been waiting underneath Jason and Britt’s relationship for some time.
Trust isn’t something a couple can manufacture because the chemistry is good. And JaBritt certainly has chemistry.
They can love each other. They can miss each other. They can desperately want things to work. None of that automatically fixes the moment when Jason looks Britt in the eyes and wonders whether she’s telling him the truth.
Likewise, Britt may eventually decide that loving Jason isn’t enough if she constantly has to defend herself to him. That is what makes this breakup more interesting than a simple misunderstanding that could be cleared up with one conversation.
Can JaBritt Come Back From This?
Soap couples have survived far worse than a crisis of trust, so this doesn’t necessarily have to be the end of Jason and Britt. But getting them back together shouldn’t be as easy as Jason discovering one missing piece of evidence and showing up at Britt’s door.
If JaBritt is going to have another chance, Jason may need to understand why Britt hesitated—and Britt may need to confront how keeping crucial information from Jason damaged his ability to trust her. Because there’s a difference between forgiving someone and trusting them again. Jason has already admitted he loves Britt. Now General Hospital has given them a much harder question:
