In a recent Swooon interview, Thompson looked back fondly on being paired with Kimberly McCullough and why their on-screen connection felt so special. A big part of it? Fans literally watched Robin grow up.

“There’s a magic to watching someone grow up in front of your eyes,” Thompson said, pointing out that Kimberly joined GH at just five years old and never really left. By the time Robin was paired with Patrick in 2006, viewers already knew her whole journey — the heartbreak, the strength, the history.

And that history mattered.

From losing Stone to living with HIV, Robin’s past gave real weight to her love story with Patrick. Add in Patrick’s cocky entrance, his legendary dad Dr. Noah Drake, and two people just wanting to find someone to love — and suddenly, lightning struck.

Then came Emma Drake. According to Thompson, adding Emma took everything to another level and turned Robin and Patrick into a family fans truly invested in. That emotional connection came rushing back in 2024 when Emma returned to Port Charles as an adult, now played by Braedyn Bruner.

And yes — Thompson admits it stirred something in him. He says part of him wonders what Patrick’s relationship with a grown Emma would look like, joking about whether she likes her dad or if he “messed her up.” While he’s perfectly happy on The Young and the Restless and has no plans to leave, it’s clear Patrick Drake still holds a special place in his heart.
