Fans of Days of Our Lives, take note that watching your favorite Salem residents is about to get more expensive.
Peacock Raises Prices Again
According to Variety, Peacock, the streaming platform owned by Comcast-NBCUniversal, is increasing its subscription prices for the third time in three years. Beginning July 23, the cost of both Premium tiers will rise by $3:
Peacock Premium (includes ads): Increasing from $7.99/month to $10.99/month or $109.99/year
Peacock Premium Plus (limited ads on live programming): Increasing from $13.99/month to $16.99/month or $169.99/year
The hike affects viewers of Days of Our Lives, which moved exclusively to Peacock in 2022 after airing on NBC for nearly six decades. The price change adds yet another cost burden for longtime fans who followed the soap to streaming and already adjusted to a new viewing platform.
In addition to the rate increase, Peacock is also testing a new subscription tier called Peacock “Select.” Priced at $7.99/month or $79.99/year, this package will feature next-day access to NBC and Bravo shows and a curated selection of library content. However, it’s not yet clear if Days of Our Lives will be included in this new tier.
The move comes as streaming services across the board continue to raise prices amid rising production costs and shifts in viewer habits. With Peacock continuing to invest in original programming and live sports, the company appears to be betting that viewers Days fans included will stick around despite the higher cost.
