After nearly four decades and more than 9,600 episodes, The Bold and the Beautiful is closing the curtain on its long run at Television City.
"The Bold and the Beautiful" to Leave Television City After 38 Years
The iconic CBS daytime soap, which has filmed at the famed studio since its debut in 1987, will officially relocate to Sunset Las Palmas Studios, a historic production facility just 2.5 miles east in the heart of Hollywood. The move comes as the show’s lease at Television City expires and follows the 2019 sale of the property to Hackman Capital Partners.
In a statement to Deadline, longtime executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell reflected on the series’ historic run at the CBS-owned studio, saying:
“It’s been an extraordinary 38 years at Television City, where we have produced over 9,600 episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful. As we look ahead, we’re excited to begin this next chapter at Sunset Las Palmas Studios — continuing our production in the heart of Hollywood and the great state of California.”
Production at the new facility is scheduled to begin on August 19, following the show’s planned hiatus.
Founded in 1919, Sunset Las Palmas Studios is one of Hollywood’s oldest and most storied production lots. It’s home to a range of television and film projects and promises to offer The Bold and the Beautiful’s cast and crew the high-end production capabilities needed to carry the show into its next era.
“We are honored to welcome The Bold and the Beautiful to Sunset Las Palmas, where we will deliver world-class service to ensure the entire cast and crew have an exceptional experience,” said Sean Griffin, SVP of Sales for Sunset Studios and Quixote.
This marks the second major CBS production to exit Television City in recent years. In 2023, The Price Is Right also vacated the lot, moving to a new facility in Glendale. The Young and the Restless, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television, remains the final CBS show still based at Television City and reportedly has no plans to relocate at this time.
Though the address may be changing, The Bold and the Beautiful’s legacy continues — with new stories, sets, and surprises awaiting fans just a few miles away.
