Victor Doesn't Have a Trust Problem; He Has an Adam Problem
Mark Grossman (Adam Newman)

For years, Victor Newman has demanded loyalty from Adam Newman. Time and again, Adam has delivered. And time and again, Victor has responded with suspicion instead of respect.

This latest Newman Media drama proves nothing has changed.

Victor Doesn't Have a Trust Problem; He Has an Adam Problem

Adam secretly negotiated the purchase of Newman Media from Spectra-Charles Media, working alongside Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) to execute the high-stakes transaction directly with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and Audra Charles (Zulekya Silver). Sally ultimately agreed to sell—not because she suddenly trusted Adam or Chelsea—but because she wanted to avoid the ruthless legal and corporate war Victor Newman was already preparing to wage against her company.

From a business standpoint, Adam accomplished exactly what Victor wanted. Newman Media was back in Newman hands without a courtroom battle, a public relations disaster, or months of expensive litigation. Instead of hearing "well done," Adam got an interrogation. Victor and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) immediately assumed there had to be another deal hiding beneath the surface. Their questions weren't unreasonable. Sally and Audra had previously shown no interest in surrendering the company without compensation, so naturally, the sudden reversal raised eyebrows.

But here's the bigger issue: neither Victor nor Victoria gave Adam the benefit of the doubt for even a second. That's the tragedy of Adam Newman. No matter how many times he proves himself, he's always treated like he's one mistake away from becoming the family's villain again. Victor says he wants loyalty, yet he rarely rewards it when it comes from Adam. Every victory comes with another test, another accusation, or another reminder that Adam hasn't earned his father's trust.

Adam's frustration finally boiled over. He reminded Victor that he's been the family's workhorse. He helped take down Matt Clark (Roger Howarth). He stood beside Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) during one of the darkest moments of his life. Now he's successfully returned Newman Media to the family without the bloodshed Victor was fully prepared to unleash. Still, it wasn't enough.

Chelsea's defense of Adam may have been the most honest moment of the entire confrontation. She pointed out that Adam consistently sacrifices for the Newman family while receiving little more than criticism in return.

It's hard to argue with her.

Victor claims he simply wants transparency, but his actions reveal something deeper. He doesn't just want results—he wants control. If Victor isn't the one orchestrating the victory, he immediately starts looking for the catch.

Ironically, Adam may have handled this situation better than Victor ever could have. Instead of escalating the conflict, he found a solution that protected the family business while sparing everyone involved from a brutal corporate war.

Yet Victor treated the achievement like a potential betrayal.

Victoria's promise to uncover the "real" story guarantees this conflict isn't over. There may indeed be details Adam and Chelsea haven't revealed. If that's true, Victor deserves answers. But even if another shoe eventually drops, Adam's point still stands.

Nothing he does is ever enough. Until Victor learns to trust the son who keeps proving his worth, Adam will never truly feel like a Newman. And every time Victor pushes him back into the family shadows, he risks creating exactly the darker version of Adam he claims to fear.
