The beloved actor, known to daytime fans for his work on Days of Our Lives and General Hospital, revealed on social media that his mother, Susie Kurth, has passed away just shy of her 102nd birthday.
In an emotional post shared with fans, Kurth opened up about the profound impact his mother had on his life and career. Calling her “an amazing Mom,” the actor reflected on the unwavering love, encouragement, and inspiration she provided throughout her long life.
“I feel so lucky and blessed that I had her deep love and devotion guiding me throughout her long life,” Kurth wrote. “She was always there, encouraging, prodding, sometimes lifting me up and most of all, inspiring me to be a better person.”
The actor credited his mother for nurturing his passion for performing from an early age. According to Kurth, Susie encouraged all five of her children to pursue their dreams and passions, and she played a major role in helping him believe he could pursue acting professionally.
“She knew I loved to sing and perform and she made sure I continued it,” he shared, joking that she even forced him to sign up for high school choir. He added that her support and wisdom helped shape his remarkable four-decade career in daytime television.
Kurth also spoke fondly about a treasured black-and-white family photo taken at the family cabin on the Gallatin River. The actor explained that the image perfectly captured the loving family dynamic his mother created and maintained throughout the years.
“This photo, for me, represents the incredible family dynamic that raised me,” he shared. “She was the perfect Mom for me.”
