When Tessa arrives with Daniel, she admits she’s convinced Mariah is finished with her. After being shut out during Mariah’s treatment, Tessa fears there’s nothing left to fight for. Daniel gently pushes back, suggesting that isolating herself may be part of Mariah’s therapeutic process — and that the silence may only be temporary.
But Tessa is losing faith. She hasn’t heard from Mariah, doesn’t know whether she’s improving, and feels completely cut off. “What am I supposed to do with this?” she asks.
She Only Killed Our Marriage.
Tessa confesses she once thought about breaking Mariah out of the clinic so they could heal together — but Mariah refused. Mariah’s claims that she “tried to kill someone” ring hollow to Tessa now. The only thing Mariah destroyed, in her eyes, was their marriage.
If this is truly what Mariah wants, Tessa fears she has no choice but to let go and move on.
Memories and Heartbreak
Sitting on a bench, Tessa recalls their sweeter times — including the squid hat Mariah made for one of their anniversaries, a nod to a movie about a giant squid they watched on their first date.
Daniel, ever the optimist, reminds her that her story with Mariah may not be over. But Tessa isn’t ready to believe that.

Her biggest worry is their daughter, Aria. What is she supposed to tell her about Mariah's disappearance from their lives?

As she steels herself for a possible divorce, Tessa makes one thing clear: She can’t save Mariah, but she can save herself and Aria.
