YR Opinion: Mariah Has Some Nerve Judging Matt After Everything She’s Done
When Matt approached Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and claimed he wanted to make amends, Mariah immediately shut him down. She scoffed at his claim that he had changed, insisting that she had actually “put in the work” to become a better person.
Seriously, Mariah? Mariah was released from a psychiatric facility on August 3, following a four-month court-ordered stay after kidnapping Dominic Winters. She avoided prison, received treatment, and returned to Genoa City hoping her family would believe she had changed. Yet just days later, she's deciding Matt doesn't deserve the same opportunity to prove himself?
Nobody is suggesting Sharon or Mariah should trust Matt. Given his history, they have every right to keep their distance and demand that he stay away from their family. But Matt didn't threaten anyone during this encounter. He apologized, acknowledged the damage he'd caused, and accepted Mariah's demand that he stay away.
Mariah, meanwhile, acted as though she's suddenly Genoa City's authority on redemption. That's what makes her attitude so hypocritical. Mariah wants everyone to believe that treatment changed her, while refusing to entertain the possibility that another deeply flawed person could change too.
Protect Sharon? Absolutely. Question Matt's motives? Definitely.
But maybe skip the self-righteous lecture, Mariah. After all, you're living on a second chance yourself.
