On Wednesday, August 6th, Days of Our Lives actor Al Calderon, has officially said goodbye to Salem. Calderon’s role as Javi Hernandez has finished filming the final scenes, marking the end of his current run as Javi Hernandez on the long-running Peacock soap.
Al Calderon Says Goodbye to Days of Our Lives
Taking to his Instagram story, Calderon expressed, “My time on Days of Our Lives has been truly life-changing. I’m endlessly grateful to the cast, crew, and creatives who made me feel seen, valued, and part of a legacy of family. I’ll carry the love, lessons, and memories with me on every journey I go on. While I’m just a small grain of sand, I’m just happy I got to pass through the hourglass. As my mom used to tell me — it’s not goodbye, just see you later. I love you forever.”
Calderon made his debut as Javi Hernandez in October 2024. Introduced as a romantic interest for Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) and a new face within the extended Hernandez family, Javi quickly became a fan favorite.
Although Calderon has wrapped filming, Days viewers will continue to see him on-screen through May 2026 due to the show’s nine-month production lead time. In a bit of good news for fans of the character, the role of Javi Hernandez will be recast, ensuring the storyline continues to evolve.
Outside of Salem, Calderon's career is already soaring. As previously reported, he has joined the cast of NBC’s Brilliant Minds for its second season, starring Zachary Quinto. Taping begins in September, with Calderon taking on the role of Nurse Scotty Silva as a series regular.
From the sand in the hourglass to scrubs and stethoscopes, it’s clear Al Calderon’s journey is just getting started.
