Ted has his hands full when he sets aside some quality father-daughter time with Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle). Unfortunately, the special moment is interrupted when Leslie shows up unexpectedly. Although Leslie has claimed she's trying to turn over a new leaf, old habits die hard. Her attempt to reconnect with Ted quickly goes sideways, and before long, the former couple is arguing once again—right in front of Eva. Watching her parents fall into the same destructive pattern is sure to leave Eva disappointed.
Later, Ted shares a private moment with Shanice Johnson (Ernestine Johnson) that takes an unexpected turn. He makes a shocking admission that leaves Shanice completely stunned. Could Ted finally be ready to tell Shanice that he loves her? His complicated romantic history with both Leslie and Nicole Dupree has made him hesitant to fully open his heart. However, Shanice has continued to stand by his side, and he may finally decide it's time to take a leap of faith.
Elsewhere, Katherine "Kat" Richardson (Colby Nixon) surprises one of her siblings with an emotional display that no one saw coming. Whether the heartfelt moment is shared with Eva or Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon), Kat's softer side continues to emerge as she processes everything that's happened in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, Dani Dupree (Karle Mosley) and Hayley Hamilton (Marquita Goings) find themselves in yet another heated confrontation. Dani remains convinced that Bill Hamilton has never truly gotten over the life they built together, and she isn't afraid to let Hayley know it. During the latest confrontation, Dani suggests that while Hayley may have captured Bill's attention, she can never replace what he shared with his ex-wife. The exchange leaves Hayley visibly rattled.
