Actor Darin Brooks is opening up about his highly anticipated return to the CBS soap, revealing that Wyatt’s comeback story is far more layered than viewers may expect. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Brooks reflected on revisiting the role of Bill Spencer’s son after stepping away from the canvas in 2024. “There’s some times where you hang on to a story, sometimes a little too long, that you feel like it was wrapped up,” Brooks shared. “But you always could tell a little more story.”
That unfinished story is exactly what brought Brooks back to Los Angeles — and according to the actor, Wyatt won’t be returning as the same man fans remember.
Before filming resumed, Brooks said he sat down with executive producer and head writer Brad Bell to piece together what Wyatt’s life has looked like off-screen, including his emotional state, his love life, and his fractured family connections. “I've talked to Brad to say, ‘Hey, where do these pieces fit in? What happened to his girlfriend? Where is he coming from? What kind of state is he in?’” Brooks explained. Those questions are expected to play a major role in Wyatt’s return arc, especially since viewers have spent the last two years wondering why Wyatt seemingly disappeared from the Spencer family orbit.
Brooks teased that fans will quickly begin asking whether Wyatt is coming back heartbroken, lonely, or searching for direction after time away from his loved ones. “Is he coming back a single guy? Is he trying to figure his life out? Is he sad that he didn't get to talk to his family for a long time?” Brooks said. “We got to hash out some of those details.”
While Brooks avoided revealing too much, he did drop one bombshell tease that’s already fueling fan speculation online. According to the actor, Wyatt’s return is actually orchestrated by his father, Don Diamont’s Bill Spencer. “Wyatt’s dad forces him to come back to town,” Brooks teased. “Then we realize why he’s here and what he has going on in relation to the girlfriend, to Flo, and to someone who is a part of his life, who also comes back with him.”
That mysterious tease immediately raises questions about whether Flo Fulton could also be making a return to town — or whether Wyatt is arriving with an entirely new woman by his side. Either way, it sounds like Wyatt’s comeback won’t just be a short family reunion. His return appears tied to deeper emotional baggage, unresolved relationships, and possibly a major new storyline involving someone from his past.
Wyatt has long been one of the more relatable members of the Spencer family, often caught between Bill’s manipulative schemes and Liam’s endless romantic chaos. His humor, heart, and loyalty made him a fan favorite during his previous runs on the soap, and many viewers have hoped for his return ever since he exited the canvas.
