In an interview with Swoon, Braeden Bruner and Giovanni Mazza opened up about portraying Emma and Gio’s emotional first love scene, which aired on January 15, 2026.

Bruner reflected on how naturally the relationship evolved.“I think it is more reminiscent of life,” she states. “They started as friends, then became best friends, and now they’re in a romantic relationship. With this episode airing, they’re taking the next step. I feel like it’s moved very naturally, and I really appreciate that. I wouldn’t change anything because it resonates with the audience that we’re not rushing anything.”

Their love scene—long anticipated by fans—was filmed with intention and care.“It was really private,” Mazza shared. “Everyone cultivated a very nice environment and silence on set. They were very conscious that this was intimate for us and were incredibly respectful. It allowed us to be comfortable with each other and with everyone around us.”

That comfort, both stars say, comes from the bond they've built off camera as well. Bruner noted, “Gio and I are very comfortable with each other, and I think that makes the scenes easier to play. We feel very safe with one another. If we weren’t close outside the show, doing any kind of intimacy—kissing or more—could feel terrifying or uncomfortable. Thankfully, that’s just not the case.”

With Emma and Gio’s romance now firmly established, the storyline is only heating up from here. Mazza teased, “There is a lot in store for Emma’s character in this next year. I think it was necessary to solidify their relationship so she has this rock she can always come to. She’s about to go to new heights—a journey of ups and downs—and hopefully he’ll be there every step of the way.”
