Christian LeBlanc Teases Surprises Ahead For Michael And Victor
As The Young and the Restless fans know all too well, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) is smack-dab in the middle of the decades-old war between Genoa City's two titans: Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). And while Michael tries to navigate this familiar battlefield with legal precision, his wife Lauren (Tracey Bregman) isn’t just concerned—she’s a wreck. And who can blame her?
On the Wednesday, May 21st episode, Michael confided in Lauren, telling her that he was ready to walk away from Victor. But let’s be honest—can anyone ever really walk away from Victor Newman?
In an exclusive Soap Opera Digest interview, LeBlanc teases that the path forward for Michael is anything but simple. The tension is mounting as Victor reignites his vendetta against Jack—not just for saving Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) from her spiral, but for Kyle simply being an Abbott, and for Billy... well, just existing.
“That’s the urgency of the situation,” LeBlanc explains. “As much as Michael defers and adds other subjects and tries to get Victor off the topic of the Abbotts, he comes back to it, because that’s a rivalry older than time.”
Michael is caught in a classic power struggle, trying to keep Victor focused while fending off pressure from every direction. “He’s trying to keep Victor in his lane and keep Jack and the Abbotts and everyone else in the other,” LeBlanc says.
Still, behind the scenes, it’s a different dynamic entirely. LeBlanc shared what it’s like working so closely with the iconic Eric Braeden:
“I get to work really intimately with Eric,” he says. “People don’t know how funny he is… I get yelled at, not him [laughs]! But I’ve started to look forward to that… He’s just like you would imagine—when he comes in the room, whether it’s real life or as Victor, you pay attention and it really gets you riveted.”
Looking ahead, LeBlanc promises there’s much more in store for Michael and the rest of Genoa City as this battle heats up.
“With this revving up of the ancient feud between Jack and Victor, the stakes get a little higher,” LeBlanc teases. “We’ve got exciting places to go. There’s a lot of surprises ahead… there’s so much coming after this.”
