In an emotional and empowering Instagram post, Anchondo shared that he has officially earned both a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy—a journey three years in the making.

“After 3 long years, I told that pesky little voice to STFU and let it know that I am not limited to what it told me I was,” Anchondo wrote candidly. “I now hold a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. I’m also a professional actor, a comedy writer, a director, a bartender, a soon-to-be children’s book author, and most importantly, I am a kind and giving person.”

Anchondo’s accomplishments come not just from textbooks and classrooms, but from a place of deep personal growth. In his hooding ceremony speech, he opened up about the painful chapters that brought him back to school—including financial hardship, personal losses, and the end of an 18-year relationship with his high school sweetheart.

“I did not know how to function on my own,” he admitted in the speech. “People envied our relationship… How did this break? What did I do wrong? Am I broken?”

But through his academic journey, Anchondo found clarity—not just for himself, but for his community. He used the opportunity to highlight the unique struggles and triumphs of the LGBTQIA+ community, speaking with passion and truth:

“We in the LGBTQI community are constantly trying to fit a mold that wasn’t made for us... We are not broken, we are advanced. We can’t follow their rules, we color outside the lines.”

Anchondo now stands at a powerful intersection of creativity, education, and advocacy. Whether it’s through his acting, writing, or future work as a therapist, he is committed to helping others embrace who they are and create new paths forward.

“No matter where you see me—whether it’s on TV, behind the bar, or in a therapist’s chair—I will do everything I can to help those in my community create their own molds and love themselves as they are.”

His greatest role may be yet to come: that of a healer, leader, and storyteller for those who need it most.
