Fans hoping to keep up with the latest drama in Port Charles will notice a shorter week of General Hospital episodes. That’s because the soap will be preempted for Major League Baseball postseason coverage.

Why Baseball Wins the Slot
The interruptions are due to the MLB Wild Card Series. In Major League Baseball, a “wild card” refers to a team that makes the postseason without winning its division. Each league (American and National) awards three wild-card spots to the non-division-winning teams with the best records, giving more teams a shot at the World Series.
The Padres and Cubs will face off in a best-of-three series, with all games hosted by the higher-seeded team. If one team sweeps the first two games, GH could be back by Thursday. If the series is tied 1–1 after Wednesday, a third game will be played on Thursday, delaying GH’s return until Friday.
What Fans Can Expect
With this schedule, viewers will only get two new episodes of General Hospital this week (Monday, September 29, and whichever day the show returns, either Thursday or Friday).
