Is Liam Spencer Pushing Too Hard? Why Brooke May Have Every Right To Show Hope and Liam the Door
From the moment Hope began considering her future, Liam has made it clear where he stands. The problem? Hope doesn't appear to be making this decision on her own anymore. Time and again, she's expressed hesitation, yet Liam continues nudging her toward the outcome he wants. That's not support, that's pressure. Even more baffling is the position Liam has put Brooke Logan Forrester in.
For weeks, Hope and Liam have been living under Brooke's roof while keeping a major secret from her. They're not simply staying in a guest room—they're living on Brooke's property, including the cabin, while allowing her to remain in the dark. It's hard to ignore the irony. Liam has the means to change his family's situation. Why not move on to Bill Spencer's (Don Diamont) estate? Better yet, why not buy Hope and Beth a home of their own? Instead, he's perfectly comfortable living on Brooke's property while Hope continues deceiving her mother. How does Liam honestly expect tomorrow night to play out?
Brooke has gone to bat for Hope more times than anyone can count. Learning that her daughter has been lying to her for weeks, and that Liam helped keep the deception alive, could be the ultimate betrayal. If Brooke tells them it's time to pack their bags, it would be difficult to blame her.
Then there's another angle worth considering. Is Liam's opposition to Hope returning to Forrester Creations really about protecting her? Or is it rooted in jealousy? Hope's history with Thomas Forrester and Carter Walton is no secret. While Thomas is currently working overseas in Paris, this is daytime television, where distance rarely keeps former flames apart forever. Carter is still very much in Los Angeles, currently happily married to Daphne "The Nose" Rose Walton (Murielle Hilaire)...for now, and old feelings have a way of resurfacing when least expected. Could Liam be more worried about who Hope might reconnect with than he's willing to admit?
Whether his concerns are valid or not, constantly steering Hope toward the decision he prefers doesn't make for a healthy marriage. If Liam truly trusts his wife, he should allow her to make her own choices, even if they aren't the ones he wants.
With Brooke about to learn the truth, Liam and Hope may soon discover that secrets have consequences. And if Brooke decides they've overstayed their welcome, they may be searching for a new place to call home sooner rather than later.
