Ryan Paevey's latest run on General Hospital has officially come to an end.

According to TV Insider, Paevey has wrapped up his role as Cassius Faison, with his final episode airing on July 6. Although his return generated plenty of excitement among viewers, executive producer Frank Valentini confirmed that the comeback was always intended to be a limited engagement.

"Ryan’s return was always planned as a short-term arc," Valentini told TV Insider exclusively. "He did incredible work, and we loved having him back."

Paevey originally returned to General Hospital in September 2025, but he previously revealed that he and Valentini had discussed the role as a temporary storyline from the very beginning. "We started talking a little bit about what he had in the works for story, and would I be willing to come back for a little bit?" Paevey shared at the time. "The initial conversations were about really short periods of time, and I was like, 'OK, well, look, if we're going to do this, let's really do it. I don't want to come back for three weeks and be a ghost.'"

The actor also expressed how grateful he was for the opportunity to return to the daytime drama that launched his career. Fortunately for fans, Cassius' story doesn't end with his exit. The character was confirmed to still be alive, and in his final scene, he received an intriguing offer from Z (John Oliver) for a new job—leaving the door wide open for another return down the road.

Valentini made that possibility clear, saying, "The door is always open for him to return."

While Cassius may be off the canvas for now, his exit was crafted in a way that keeps future story possibilities alive. Whether that mysterious job leads him back to Port Charles remains to be seen, but fans can take comfort knowing this doesn't have to be goodbye forever.
