Robert Scorpio’s General Hospital Farewell Has Reportedly Been Written
According to Soap Central, Robert Scorpio’s farewell and funeral storyline has been written following the death of his longtime portrayer, Tristan Rogers. However, the scenes have reportedly not yet been filmed, meaning an airdate and additional storyline details remain unknown.
The tribute is expected to honor both Robert and the actor who transformed the WSB superspy into a daytime television icon.
Rogers passed away on August 15, 2025, at the age of 79 after a brief battle with lung cancer. His longtime manager confirmed that the actor had never smoked. ABC7 reported that the role of Robert meant everything to Rogers, who created the beloved character from what was originally supposed to be only one day of work.
Rogers made his General Hospital debut in 1980. His natural charisma and undeniable screen presence quickly impressed viewers and the show’s producers, turning that one-day assignment into a remarkable 45-year association with the ABC soap.
Robert became an essential part of GH’s adventure-filled glory days. His heroic battles, complicated history with Anna Devane and enduring romance with Holly Sutton helped make him a fan favorite. Robert also built a lasting family legacy through his daughters, Robin Scorpio-Drake and Sasha Gilmore Corbin.
Rogers made his final General Hospital appearances in 2025, sharing touching scenes with Sasha and meeting his granddaughter Daisy. Earlier reports confirmed that the soap’s writers intended to create a proper sendoff that would preserve Robert’s legacy for years to come. Soap Opera Digest previously reported that the show was developing a storyline for later in 2026.
Although no returning cast members have been announced, viewers will undoubtedly hope Robert’s loved ones are represented during the farewell. Anna, Holly, Robin, Sasha, Mac Scorpio and Felicia Scorpio all played important roles in his extraordinary story.
For longtime fans, Robert Scorpio was more than a secret agent or former police commissioner. He was a cornerstone of General Hospital whose courage, humor and adventurous spirit helped define an unforgettable era of the show.
If the funeral report proves accurate, Robert’s final farewell promises to be one of the year’s most emotional moments—and a fitting tribute to the irreplaceable Tristan Rogers.
