According to his brother, Donald Mantooth, the veteran actor passed away at a hospice facility in Ventura, California. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Donald shared that Randolph had "been ill for a number of years and kept getting thinner and thinner."

Mantooth began his television career in 1970 with guest appearances on series such as The Virginian and Alias Smith and Jones. His breakthrough came in 1972 when he was cast as the lovable and often lighthearted Johnny Gage on Emergency!. The groundbreaking medical drama, which aired on NBC for six seasons from 1972 to 1979, followed the lives of Los Angeles County firefighters, paramedics, and hospital staff, helping bring national attention to modern emergency medical services.
