Soap Opera Veteran Scott Bryce Dies at 68

The daytime television community is mourning the loss of beloved soap opera veteran Scott Bryce, who has died at the age of 68.
Soap Opera Veteran Scott Bryce Dies at 68
Bryce, best known for originating the role of Craig Montgomery on the former CBS daytime drama As the World Turns, passed away after a battle with cancer.
News of Bryce's death was first shared on Sunday by his longtime friend Lucie Arnaz, the daughter of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, in a heartfelt Facebook tribute that has since been deleted. The announcement was later reported by soap journalist Michael Fairman.
Bryce revealed in 2025 that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal and stomach cancer. After undergoing treatment, he told supporters that he was "on the mend." Sadly, according to Arnaz, the cancer later returned.
Bryce made his As the World Turns debut in 1982 as Craig Montgomery, a charismatic but deeply flawed businessman whose manipulative schemes and turbulent love life made him one of the show's most memorable characters. He remained in the role until 1991 before returning for additional stints from 1993 to 1994 and again from 2007 to 2008.
His performances earned him Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in both 1986 and 1987, cementing his place among daytime television's most respected actors.
Beyond his memorable work on As the World Turns, Bryce built a long career across television, film, and theater, leaving a lasting impression on audiences and colleagues alike.
Scott Bryce is survived by his wife, Jodie Stevens, and their son, Jackson.
We extend our deepest condolences to Bryce's family, friends, former castmates, and the many fans whose lives he touched through his decades of work in daytime television. May he rest in peace.
