Soap fans, get ready to say goodbye to Natalia Ramirez. According to Soap Opera Digest, Eva LaRue has wrapped up her run on General Hospital, with her final scenes set to air this week.

“I was originally only supposed to be on the show for a couple of months,” LaRue shared.

“They tried to rehabilitate my character,” she explained. Introduced as Blaze’s disapproving and homophobic mother, Natalia faced an uphill battle from the start. When Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) started a romance with Kristina Davis (Kate Mansi), Natalia’s strained relationship with her daughter took center stage.

LaRue described a turning point in January, when Natalia’s lie about her ex-husband Sidwell shattered her trust with Sonny. “Sonny was like, ‘We can’t be friends anymore,’” she recalled. “And I thought, ‘Uh-oh, there we go,’ because that [relationship with Sonny] was kind of my character’s only lifeline.”

The actress admitted that viewers struggled to accept a potential Sonny and Natalia pairing. “People just weren’t buying it, because they just hated my character so much,” she said. “I was so vilified that no matter what [the writers] did, it just wasn’t a solid enough rehabilitation that they were gonna buy me with Sonny. And so when they finally let that idea go, I realized, ‘Okay, I’m probably not much longer for this world.’”

Reflecting on her last day on set, LaRue shared a heartfelt moment with Executive Producer Frank Valentini. “It was really fun working for Frank,” she enthused. “He was lovely, and we’ve been friends for a zillion years, going back to the New York days,” referring to her time on All My Children and Valentini’s tenure at One Life to Live. “And he and John [Callahan, ex-Edmund, AMC, her late ex-husband] were good friends.”
