GH Comings & Goings: Finola Hughes' Return Date as Anna Devane Revealed
After months away from the canvas, Finola Hughes is officially returning to General Hospital as Anna Devane. According to Soap Opera Digest, Hughes' first airdate is Wednesday, June 24, marking the long-awaited return of one of the soap's most beloved characters.
We last saw Anna on February 4, when her heartbreaking storyline took a dark turn. Held captive in France, Anna was confined to a mental institution after being heavily drugged by Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes). The dangerous villain kept her sedated in an effort to silence her and prevent her from exposing his growing conspiracy.
While Anna has remained off-screen ever since, viewers have continued to receive updates about her condition as friends and family desperately hoped for her recovery. Now, that wait is nearly over.
Anna is expected to break free from her nightmare and return to Port Charles on the June 24 episode, just as several explosive storylines are reaching a boiling point. With Cullum still posing a threat, the WSB investigation intensifying, and Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna), Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) caught in the middle of the action, Anna's return couldn't come at a more critical time.
Known as one of daytime television's greatest super spies, Anna has never backed down from danger. Although she'll undoubtedly continue recovering from her traumatic ordeal, fans can expect her to play a major role in the battle against Cullum and whatever comes next for Port Charles.
The timing is also significant, as Anna's return comes just weeks before General Hospital's milestone 16,000th episode, giving viewers even more reason to celebrate.
After nearly five months away, Finola Hughes is back—and Port Charles is about to become much more interesting.
