The actor debuted as Luke Spencer's son on Monday, July 27, taking over the role from Nathan Dean, whose final episode aired on July 17. While many expected the recast to stick around, Howard's run lasted just five episodes.
By the end of Friday's July 31 episode, Ethan had exited Port Charles, making Howard's appearance one of the shortest recasts in recent General Hospital history.
Whether the role returns with Howard, Dean, or another actor remains to be seen. As longtime viewers know, no exit in Port Charles is ever truly permanent.
